UFE and Evergreen have reached an agreement to extend the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) to September 30, 2021. The CBA was previously set to expire on August 31, 2021. Please see the attached Memorandum of Understanding, which has been approved by the UFE Stewards’ Council and Evergreen’s Board of Trustees.
Notably, last year’s furlough agreement has expired. That means that faculty who were furloughed last year should now see full pay on their first paycheck of fall quarter, along with their standard experience year increases. { 2021-8-31 MOU Contract Extension }
Although we are past the term of the extension, as long as both sides continue bargaining in good faith, the current contract remains in effect.
The United Faculty of Evergreen and the college also came to agreement on a memorandum of understanding which updates our earlier MOUs regarding COVID safety for fall quarter. The MOU covers a number of topics, including our vaccination requirement, safety training, and other college policies. We encourage you to read through the details.
Amongst other things, many faculty have asked how they might change their instructional footing. Those faculty who are concerned about their health – or the health of a family household member – can work together with the curriculum deans to find a way to transition their hybrid or in-person class to a remote footing. In so doing, the college will honor the MOU, which exceeds our legislative requirements to protect employee health. { Safety MOU Fall 2021 }
